Growth, Changing Roles and New Faces
12th September 2013
As Spirit has enjoyed vast growth and the company has evolved, roles and people have changed and developed with it.
Our loyal production manager, Ken, has been the perfect employee for the past ten years and his work ethic and efficiency has always stood out! Recently, Ken approached Steve Driver with some concerns about the increasing workload and challenges that has come with Spirit doubling in size in the last three years. Together the pair agreed on a succession plan that will see Ken focusing on emerging technologies and product management.
Welcoming Ian Hood to the team:
This succession plan opened up the opportunity for someone new to come in and take hold of the factory, so Steve began to look for a new general manager. We’re are thrilled to announce that PCB industry-known professional, Ian Hood, will be filling that role. Ian is a well-known figure in the PCB industry and has over 31 years of quality and production related experience. Ian has worked in a variety of challenging operational, technical and general management roles within the production of printed circuit boards, offshore procurement, sheet metal fabrication and electromechanical assemblies. Steve Driver knew Ian some years back, and it didn’t take long for him to decide that Ian was the right man for the job! In addition to his vast and varied experience, Ian is a born leader and has the natural ability to manage a team; he is extremely driven and has a sound technical understanding, which is vital in the PCB industry.
As well as his impressive employment history and successful projects, Ian has dedicated his time to representing the electronics industry. He is Chairman for the Scotland division of SMART Group, the largest technical organisation in Europe for electronics. As part of his role he organizes and presents technical papers.
Steve is delighted to have opened new exciting opportunity for a valued team member, and also welcome a new expert to the team.
Steve said:
“We look forward to the future and I’m confident that these new roles will support our continuous growth, improve our operations and propel us on our journey to further success.”
